Vacant Board Positions

The Trafalgar-Chartwell Residents’ Association is seeking volunteers to fill two vacant positions on its Board of Directors: Director, Community Relations and Director, Development. Volunteers should be residents of the TCRA neighbourhood (QEW to Lakeshore, Chartwell to the 16 Mile Creek) and able to volunteer approximately 3 days a month to TCRA affairs. Relevant experience is not necessary (volunteers typically learn the work over time, with help from fellow directors) but ownership of a computer and moderate capability with it are desirable.

Director, Community Relations

Primarily responsible for promoting a sense of community in our neighbourhood, this director oversees the TCRA’s membership program, as well as all communications with members and the neighbourhood as a whole.  Core competencies include:

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • strong orientation to customer service, relationship building, and fund raising
  • leadership skills
  • comfort with Excel, Word, social media, and website content management software.

Director, Development

Primarily responsible for coordinating and leading the TCRA’s responses to matters relating to proposed developments and zoning changes in our neighbourhood, this director oversees advice to residents seeking or opposing Zoning Variance applications, as well as TCRA’s responses to Town requests for input to Planning Studies. Core competencies include:

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • willingness to learn about the Town of Oakville’s Official Plan and Zoning By Laws and their application to development proposals
  • leadership skills
  • comfort with Word, PowerPoint, and graphics software.
